Catholic Charities of Louisville Annual Report

Congressman Yarmuth Presents $98,000 to St. Cecilia Senior Housing Project

On March 25th, Congressman Yarmuth presented Catholic Charities with $98,000 to complete funding for the St. Cecilia Elderly Apartments.  This is Catholic Charities fifth project and the second with St. Cecilia paster, Fr. John Burke, who was the pastor at Christ the King during a previous development.

Another significant partner is the Housing Partnership, Inc., which assists with the securing of funding through low-income, and as with the case of St. Cecilia, historic tax credits.

Rehabilitation began in the fall and should be finished by late summer or early fall.  When complete, the renovated school will house 30 low-cost one bedroom units available to seniors.

This is the second time Congressman Yarmuth had good news for Catholic Charities.  This past October, Yarmuth contacted Steve Bogus, Catholic Charities Executive Director, to announce that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was to award $3.8 million for our sixth project, St. Denis.

The Catholic Charities Senior Housing Program is an innovative way to adaptively reuse old parish structures or vacant land to benefit both the parish and the community.  To learn more about this program, click here to visit or Housing Development webpage.
